        Question:

I was arrested for shoplifting in Orlando, but I didn’t mean to do it. How can you help me?

        Answer:

If you were charged with resisting arrest in Orlando, Florida, then it’s very important to speak with an attorney who can help you through this process. Just two weeks ago, we met with a young man who was out and about in Orlando. He was expressing some opinions about his group where he was part of a group that was out there down downtown making their voices heard. Unfortunately, him and his group found themselves in a situation where they were approached by law enforcement. They weren’t given the benefit of the doubt. They weren’t allowed to do what they were doing peacefully. They were arrested for resisting an officer.

Now, resisting an officer can be charged in one of two ways. The way that we see it the most is resisting an officer without violence. You also have resisting an officer with violence which sometimes they can throw at you if they’re feeling up for it that day. We’ve seen both situations but what we’ve rarely seen is a situation where being charged with either of those crimes is warranted. Many times, unfortunately, law enforcement maybe become overwhelmed or they simply can’t handle the situation and they end up arresting someone for resisting an officer without violence. Now, the charge of resisting without violence is interesting because it can simply be just resisting the lawful commands or the commands of the law enforcement officer or even impeding their investigation. All of that is very subjective. We’ve seen that used to the detriment of these individuals who get arrested for this type of crime. It’s very important to get in touch with an attorney who’s dealt with these issues. Get someone involved quickly. Maybe yourself gather evidence. Video footage is very helpful nowadays, people recording with their cellphones and things of that nature to really see if the facts warranted the arrest for resisting charge. Now, in our experience, that is rarely the case so it is very important to hire the attorney who’s experienced in that, that way they can look through all this and make sure that you get the best defense possible. “In October 2015, My husband was a passenger in a horrible car accident and was hospitalized for two months. After being in ICU for a little over a month , I reached out to Mr. Corzo and He met me in the hospital a day after. Since my husband was still unconscious and in ICU I decided to hire Mr.Corzo for Davids personal injury and workers compensation case. From the moment I met Mr.Corzo he was very emphatic and attentive to all my questions and concerns. Anytime I would email him with a question he would get back to me right away. I would even email/text his paralegal Denise after hours if I had any questions and she would get back to me within a hour. Mr. Corzo made sure he fully explained and went over everything with us before we made any decisions. Mr. Corzo went out of his way to make sure David was taken care of. After my husband was released from the hospital, Mr. Corzo called and checked up on David and made sure he was getting the care he needed. I truly believe Mr. Corzo went above and beyond for my husband in winning both cases. We are extremely blessed with the outcome and would highly recommend him to anyone that may need a lawyer. Due to my husbands injuries we will need to apply for disability, Mr.Corzo offered to help us fill out the paper work and make sure everything is done correctly. We can’t THANK him enough for all that he has done for our family. #Thankful”– David and Jennifer Alvarez
